West Feliciana Parish Release Records
“Released” describes leaving one custodial setting. It does not always mean freedom in the community. A person can leave West Feliciana Parish Detention Center on cash, surety, or property bond, by recognizance, after time served, following dismissal when no other hold remains, or under another court order. The same person might instead be transferred to Louisiana DPS&C, another parish, a federal authority, or immigration custody.
The parish jail holds people awaiting trial, parish-sentenced people, and people sentenced to DPS&C custody. That mix makes the destination field vital. Louisiana State Penitentiary also sits in West Feliciana, but Angola is a state maximum-security prison. Its discharges, paroles, and transfers belong to the statewide system, not the WFPSO roster.
- Bond
- Release from detention while the criminal case continues.
- Time served
- A court disposition or completion of a jail term, depending on the record.
- Transfer
- Movement to another custodian, not community release.
- Parole
- Release from prison while the sentence continues under supervision.
- Probation
- Court-ordered supervision that does not, by itself, prove a jail exit.
- Discharge
- The end of the custody or supervision status identified by the source.
What West Feliciana Release Records Show
A release record is an event record. It should be tied to one booking because names repeat and one person may have several unrelated admissions. WFPSO’s public booking page does not display release fields, but those details may exist in the jail-management record and can be requested.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Name and booking identifier | Which person and custody episode the record concerns |
| Admission date and time | When that booking began |
| Release date and time | When the person left that custodial setting |
| Release type or reason | Bond, time served, court order, sentence completion, transfer, or another event |
| Releasing authority | The office or court that authorized the change |
| Destination or receiving agency | Whether custody continued elsewhere |
| Bond disposition | The bond route recorded for that booking |
| Booking photograph | The image associated with that intake, if releasable |
The current LAVNS roster is evidence of current display, not a historical official release document. WFPSO’s Jail Bookings chronology proves that a listed booking was published, yet it lacks status, release date, release reason, destination, bond disposition, booking number, and photo. Pair a direct jail record with the 20th JDC minute when legal authority matters.
Request West Feliciana Release Records
WFPSO accepts public-information requests through four channels. Louisiana’s Public Records Act begins at R.S. 44:1, with inspection and copying duties in R.S. 44:32, remedies in R.S. 44:35, and retention frameworks in R.S. 44:36. Those laws support a focused request, but they do not make every field public or guarantee indefinite website display.
- Identify the person, approximate booking date, and any booking or case number.
- Ask for the booking and release record, including admission, release date and time, type, authority, destination or transfer agency, and bond disposition if recorded.
- Submit in person at 4785 Prosperity Street, by mail to WFPSO Public Information Request, P.O. Box 1844, St. Francisville, LA 70775, by email to records@wfpso.org, or by fax to 225-635-6947.
- Ask for electronic delivery and a current fee quote. Do not assume a photo charge or response time.
- Request the numbered court docket or extract of minutes separately if the legal basis is needed.
The WFPSO reports page shows the official request routes.
The form route can document a physical exit or transfer. The Clerk’s record answers why the court authorized it.
A useful request names the fields rather than asking for “everything.” State the approximate booking date, then request the booking number, admission time, release time, release type, releasing authority, destination or transfer agency, bond disposition, and associated booking photograph. If WFPSO separates jail, incident, and photo records, ask staff to identify the correct custodian. Juvenile, sealed, medical, victim, investigative, and confidential material can be withheld or redacted, so a response may provide only the releasable portion.
Note: Website visibility and statutory retention are separate; no sheriff rule states how long a former detainee remains online.
West Feliciana Bond Release Steps
West Feliciana publishes a notably detailed local bond chain. Judges of the 20th JDC set bond. WFPSO accepts cash, commercial surety, and qualifying residential-property bonds and lists a $30 sheriff bond fee. A bond release lets the person leave detention while the case continues. It is not a dismissal or acquittal.
A property bond can require proof of assessed value, a Clerk mortgage certificate, owner signatures, recording, and delivery of the certified recorded appearance bond to the jail. This explains why a judge’s order or a payment step can precede the physical exit. The Clerk’s appearance-bond procedure records that local sequence.
The recorded chain should be paired with the jail event, especially when another hold may prevent community release.
West Feliciana Court Release Proof
West Feliciana is part of the 20th Judicial District. The Clerk maintains numbered criminal dockets and daily minutes, which are short summaries of court proceedings. Those records can show bond, recognizance, dismissal, plea, judgment, sentence, credit for time served, probation, amended commitment, revocation, appeal, and expungement activity.
The court minute and jail release record solve different parts of the question. A minute supplies legal authority but cannot rule out another hold or prove exact door-out time. A jail record may state “court order” without explaining the case outcome. Search the linked eClerks LA portal when useful, then ask the Clerk for the authoritative docket, judgment, or extract of minutes.
The West Feliciana Clerk court page describes the docket and daily-minutes function.
This durable court layer can remain useful after a current roster or web entry changes.
West Feliciana Expunged Release Records
Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure article 971 describes expungement as removal from public access rather than destruction. Authorized access can remain. A later public disappearance therefore does not prove that no booking or custody event happened. Article 983 addresses costs and exemptions, and eligibility depends on the case.
The Clerk publishes a local fee breakdown totaling $550 before exemptions: $200 to the Clerk, $50 to the District Attorney, $50 to the Sheriff, and $250 to State Police. Verify current amounts before acting. Sealed, juvenile, victim, medical, investigative, and confidential corrections material may also be withheld or redacted under their own rules.
West Feliciana Release Record Limits
Public access differs by custodian. WFPSO can process a focused request for a parish booking and exit event, subject to lawful exemptions. The Clerk can supply a docket, court minute, judgment, sentence, or amended commitment and publishes separate copy and certification charges. Louisiana DPS&C applies the specific confidentiality rule in R.S. 15:574.12, which generally restricts inmate records while identifying some releasable facts such as age, offense, conviction date, sentence length, and misconduct.
Ask each office only for the part it created. A parish request should not demand a state time-computation file, and a DPS&C request cannot establish an exact parish-jail door-out time. If a custodian withholds part of a record, ask it to separate and provide the releasable portion and identify the exemption or redaction basis. A records request also should not be used to challenge sentence arithmetic. State calculation disputes follow the facility Records Office and Administrative Remedy Process described by DPS&C.
The agency website is not the record itself. A booking entry can remain after release, a roster can change after transfer, and an older event may no longer be displayed. Preserve the response, source date, and exact booking or case identifiers so later web changes do not erase the context.
Find a Released West Feliciana Inmate
Start by identifying the custodian. Searching every system as if it were interchangeable produces false matches. The parish jail, Louisiana DPS&C, BOP, and ICE each define release only from their own custody. Use exact names, aliases, date of birth, and the booking, DPS&C, BOP, case, or A-number when lawfully known.
- Parish booking: find the event in WFPSO’s chronology, check the current LAVNS roster, then call 225-784-3158 and request the release or transfer record.
- Louisiana sentence: search LAVNS by exact identity and call 225-383-4580 for facility, projected date, or assigned P&P district.
- Parole: locate the date-specific ruling, then verify later custody or supervision status.
- Federal sentence: use BOP’s locator and definitions, then use the federal docket when an order matters.
- Possible ICE custody: search ODLS by A-number and country of birth or exact name and country, then confirm what the ICE status means.
- Older event: prioritize the court minute and a targeted WFPSO or DPS&C request.
A released person usually leaves the live jail roster. Absence is only a lead because it cannot distinguish community release, transfer, correction, or data delay.
West Feliciana Jail Release Search
WFPSO publishes two different datasets. The Jail Bookings chronology lists the current-year booking date, name, age, partial location, and charges. A name may remain there after release. The separate LAVNS roster displays current incarcerated people, an update time, and notification instructions. It has no verified released, 24-hour, or 72-hour filter.
At one July 2026 observation, the roster showed a current evening update while the newest manual booking entry was nine days old. That was a point-in-time difference, not a published update rule. Never filter booking dates and relabel arrests as releases. West Feliciana has no verified recent-release feed, so the reliable fallback is a time-bounded call or records request.
The booking archive screenshot shows the fields that are actually published.
Those text fields identify a booking. They do not provide custody status, release time, destination, bond result, or a booking photo.
Louisiana Search for West Feliciana Releases
Louisiana DPS&C directs the public to LAVNS/VINELink instead of a separate historical web database. Search by location, exact name, or ID/case number. The service includes people in prison and people on probation or parole and is said to update every 24 hours. A P&P result can support release from confinement, while a facility assignment shows custody continues.
| Input or field | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Exact name | Find likely person records | Resolve common names with identifiers |
| ID or case number | Stronger identity match | Must belong to the correct system |
| Reporting agency | Shows who supplies the status | Does not replace that agency’s record |
| Location or supervision | Separates prison from community P&P | May change after the event |
| Event date | Dates the displayed change | Confirm with the custodian |
The Louisiana VINELink search is the official statewide entry point.
A missing result is not a historical parish release record. Check spelling, agency scope, WFPSO records, and the court file.
West Feliciana Parish or Angola
A 39-person parish detention center and Louisiana’s oldest and only maximum-security state prison coexist in West Feliciana. This is the parish’s key search problem. A sheriff booking entry may use an Angola address or concern alleged conduct at the penitentiary. That does not prove ordinary parish-jail custody, state discharge, or community release.
The WFPSO detention page describes the small jail’s mixed custody population.
For an Angola-linked event, independently check the parish roster, DPS&C status, 20th JDC docket, and release or transfer record. This four-source reconstruction can show that a new local booking and continued state imprisonment coexist.
Reconstruct an Angola Release Record
An Angola address in the WFPSO booking archive can identify residence, an institutional location, or an event tied to the penitentiary. It cannot establish which agency held the person after that parish booking. Begin with the sheriff entry and note the booking date and charge. Next, search the statewide record by exact name and DPS&C number. Then locate the 20th JDC docket to learn whether the parish case produced bond, a new sentence, dismissal, or another order.
The last step is the custody event. Ask WFPSO whether its booking ended in release, return, or transfer and name the receiving agency. If state status remains active, contact DPS&C or Louisiana State Penitentiary rather than treating parish-roster disappearance as freedom. A parole ruling must also be followed by a later state status check. This independent sequence preserves the strongest West Feliciana distinction: a local criminal event and continuing state imprisonment can be true at the same time.
West Feliciana Release Supervision
The Committee on Parole makes parole decisions, while the Division of Probation and Parole supervises people in the community. West Feliciana is served by the Feliciana District in Clinton. It covers both Feliciana parishes, regional transitional programs, Angola, Dixon, and weekly 20th JDC activity. No public local absconder list was verified.
WFPSO’s named Transitional Work Program offers weekly behavioral, parenting, substance-abuse, library, legal-book, and religious programming. It is a custodial step-down setting, not a release list. Its page publishes no alumni or discharge search. Confirm the endpoint with WFPSO and, for a state sentence, DPS&C and the assigned district. More detail appears in the West Feliciana parole and probation record.
West Feliciana Release Notifications
Louisiana’s automated notification service is called LAVNS or LAVINE and is delivered through VINELink. The parish current roster is itself hosted on a LAVNS subdomain and invites registration for custody changes. Open the exact person record, match the agency and identity, then use only the notification channels shown by the live interface. Keep the confirmation and treat any alert as a prompt to call the named custodian.
A transfer alert means custody continues. A community P&P status can show that confinement ended while supervision remains. R.S. 15:1229 warns that automated information is not guaranteed to be accurate, timely, or complete. Formal DPS&C victim registration is a separate service, and the public sex-offender registry applies only to people who have a legal duty to register. Neither registry is a general West Feliciana release archive.
Federal and ICE West Feliciana Releases
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates released after 1982 and updates daily. Search by federal number or identity fields. “RELEASED” means no longer in BOP custody. A future date is projected, “UNKNOWN” is undetermined, and “IN TRANSIT” is not release. BOP status does not rule out supervision, state or local custody, or ICE custody.
For ICE, the Online Detainee Locator System accepts a nine-digit A-number plus country of birth, or exact name plus country and optional birth date. Release from ICE means only the end of ICE custody. No federal or ICE detention facility in West Feliciana Parish was verified, so these paths apply only when a known case or transfer points there.
Where West Feliciana Release Status Appears
Use the record that fits both the person and the question. One source rarely proves the whole custody chain.
| Question | Best first source | Then confirm with |
|---|---|---|
| Still in parish jail? | West Feliciana LAVNS current roster | Detention Center |
| Left the parish jail? | WFPSO release or transfer event | 20th JDC and receiving agency |
| Still in state prison? | Louisiana LAVNS and locator | Assigned facility |
| Released to supervision? | P&P status and district | Ruling or court minute |
| Federal custody ended? | BOP locator | PACER and any next custodian |
| ICE custody ended? | ICE ODLS | ICE information line and other systems |
West Feliciana Release Facilities
Each local facility uses a different release path. Start with the facility page that matches the actual custody.
- West Feliciana Parish Detention Center: confirm a parish release or transfer with WFPSO and pair it with court authority.
- West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office Transitional Work Program: confirm discharge with WFPSO and DPS&C when the state owns the sentence.
- Louisiana State Penitentiary: use statewide LAVNS, the DPS&C locator, parole rulings, and P&P after release.
