Work Program Custody Status
The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office Transitional Work Program is not a public release roster. Participation in work, a class, worship, a library activity, or another approved program does not by itself mean that legal custody ended. A participant may be outside the facility for an authorized purpose and still remain in a structured custodial program. The official page provides program and contact information, but it publishes no searchable discharge schedule or former-participant list.
Sentence ownership controls the next check. WFPSO can confirm when a person left its program and whether that event was discharge or transfer. If the person was serving a Louisiana DPS&C sentence, state status must show whether the sentence moved to Probation and Parole supervision, ended in discharge, or continued at another correctional site. A purely local participant may instead require the sheriff’s event record and a 20th Judicial District court minute.
| Observed event | What it means | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Outside work or class activity | May remain in custody | WFPSO program staff |
| Local discharge | Program custody ended | WFPSO discharge record and court minute |
| DPS&C community supervision | Confinement ended; sentence supervision continues | LAVNS, locator, and assigned P&P district |
| Move to another facility | Custody continues | WFPSO transfer record and recipient status |
Confirm Work Program Discharge
Begin with the exact participant rather than browsing the parish’s booking archive as though it were a work-program release list. Record the full name, known alias, date of birth, case or booking number, and DPS&C number when lawfully known. Call the program and ask whether the person is currently assigned, was discharged, or was transferred. If staff confirms a departure, request the date, event type, sentence owner, and destination.
For a DPS&C-sentenced participant, search Louisiana LAVNS through VINELink by exact name or ID/case number. A facility assignment means continued confinement. A Probation and Parole result is stronger evidence that confinement ended, although it must match the correct person and sentence. The DPS&C automated locator at 225-383-4580 can provide the assigned facility, a projected release date if applicable, and the assigned P&P district.
- Confirm identity and ask WFPSO whether program custody is current or ended.
- Request the departure date, discharge or transfer code, and receiving agency if one exists.
- For a state sentence, compare LAVNS status and call the DPS&C locator.
- For community supervision, confirm the assigned district and public contact route.
- Use the court minute to explain the legal basis for a local sentence change.
Work Program Release Contact
WFPSO lists a physical location, mailing address, weekday office hours, main phone, fax, and Warden’s Office number. These contacts support a direct status or records inquiry. They do not establish a routine daily discharge hour. No official source gives a public release door, waiting area, transport plan, gate payment, weekend schedule, or property-return procedure for this program.

The official WFPSO program page is the source for the facility’s contacts and published activities.
The capture documents the local program and contact route, not the release status of any participant.
Transitional Program Services
The sheriff’s page lists weekly parenting, Thinking for a Change, Living in Balance, Cage Your Rage, substance-abuse, library, legal-book, and religious programming. These details describe the structured setting. They can support transition planning and skill development, but no program completion field should be treated as a discharge record. The page also does not publish a roster of graduates or a date on which a participant leaves custody.
That boundary matters for family and legal verification. A person may complete one course while still assigned to the program. Another participant may move back to a secure facility without community release. A third may reach a state discharge date and enter P&P supervision. Only the custody event and sentence system classify those outcomes. Use program information as context, then obtain the actual discharge or transfer record.
- Transitional work program
- A structured custodial setting that allows approved activity while legal custody continues.
- Discharge
- An end to the relevant custody or supervision status, as defined by the source record.
- Community supervision
- Probation or parole oversight outside confinement under Louisiana DPS&C.
- Transfer
- Movement to another facility or authority, not freedom from custody.
Request Work Program Records
When no public discharge list exists, a narrow records request gives WFPSO a clear episode to locate. The sheriff accepts requests in person at the courthouse, by mail to WFPSO Public Information Request, P.O. Box 1844, St. Francisville, LA 70775, by email at records@wfpso.org, or by fax to 225-635-6947 with attention to RECORDS REQUEST. The information phone is 225-635-3241.
Provide the participant’s full name, aliases, approximate program dates, case or booking number, and DPS&C number if applicable. Ask for the existing discharge or transfer record, event date and time, reason or type, sentence owner, releasing authority, and receiving facility or supervision district. If a requested part is confidential, ask the custodian to identify and provide any segregable public fields. Do not ask WFPSO to calculate a state sentence or create a report that does not exist.
A DPS&C public-record request is separate. Louisiana corrections accepts narrow requests for legally releasable custody or discharge facts, but R.S. 15:574.12 limits access to much of the imprisoned person’s file. Sentence-computation disputes belong through the facility Records Office or Administrative Remedy Process rather than the general public-record email.
Work Program Release Supervision
Feliciana Probation and Parole serves West Feliciana Parish and monitors regional transitional work programs. That local role does not mean every participant is on parole or probation. Parole is release from confinement while a sentence continues under supervision. Probation is a court-imposed status and may not follow a stay in this program at all. Confirm the status shown for the exact person.
If LAVNS points to P&P, use the DPS&C locator to identify the assigned district. The Feliciana office is at 9508 Plank Road, Suite B, Clinton, with phone 225-683-5012 and weekday hours of 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The office covers both Feliciana parishes and certain East Baton Rouge ZIP codes. Its reported caseload spans that whole footprint and is not a West Feliciana release count.
Note: A P&P result can confirm supervision after confinement, but it does not replace WFPSO’s record of the program departure.
Small Jail Beside Angola
A sheriff-run program, a 39-person parish jail, and Louisiana’s oldest and only maximum-security state prison coexist in West Feliciana Parish. That unusual mix makes custodian identification a headline issue. A WFPSO booking can list an Angola location or arise from conduct connected to the penitentiary. It does not prove routine detention in the parish jail, assignment to this work program, or community release.
Match the facility and sentence before selecting a lookup. WFPSO controls its Transitional Work Program record. Louisiana DPS&C controls Angola imprisonment, state discharge, and parole status. The 20th JDC controls local court minutes. Keeping those sources distinct prevents an event near Angola from being mistaken for entry into or release from the sheriff’s work program.
Angola Address Release Check
An Angola address in WFPSO’s booking archive may identify a DPS&C prisoner facing a new parish case while the state sentence continues. The proper reconstruction checks the parish roster, statewide status, court docket, and release or transfer record independently. A local court may act on the new charge without ending the state confinement that brought the person to Angola.
Use the DPS&C number when possible. Confirm the parish event with WFPSO, the state status with LAVNS and the automated locator, and the case action through the Clerk’s docket or minute. If WFPSO records a transfer, follow the receiving authority. Say “released from the work program” only when the WFPSO record supports that event, and say “released from state custody” only when DPS&C supports the later state change.
Work Program Release Planning
No public source states a standard discharge time, exit point, transportation option, pickup location, release-day call procedure, or property process. Confirm those facts with program staff near the expected event. A projected state release date may also change or remain unavailable while DPS&C waits for court paperwork and completes time calculation.
For a planned community transition, verify three items: WFPSO has executed the program departure, DPS&C shows the right custody or supervision status when it owns the sentence, and the assigned P&P district has been identified when supervision follows. If any source still shows a facility assignment, do not assume the participant is free because a course ended or outside work was observed.
