DPS&C says the service includes people in prison and people under probation or parole supervision and updates every 24 hours. A missing result can stem from spelling, scope, or archive limits, so it is not proof of release.
Call the automated locator at 225-383-4580 with the DPS&C number or the person’s name plus date of birth. The DPS&C number is the strongest key because names can collide. If a projected date is available, record it as projected. Then check again after the date for actual custody or supervision status. About Angola State Prison
Louisiana DPS&C describes Louisiana State Penitentiary as the state’s oldest and only maximum-security prison. It is about 22 miles northwest of St. Francisville. These facts distinguish Angola from the sheriff-operated 39-person parish Detention Center and the local Transitional Work Program. Angola houses people under state corrections authority, not an ordinary parish pretrial population.
That distinction changes every release query. The parish booking archive cannot supply Angola’s state discharge status. The parish current roster cannot show whether an Angola sentence continues. A 20th JDC record may document a new West Feliciana case, but it does not erase the state sentence. Start with Louisiana DPS&C and use parish records only for a separate local event.

If the field is unavailable, the calculation may still be pending. A projected date can change after corrected paperwork, credit calculations, forfeiture or restoration, discipline, added sentences, detainers, or a legal change. Louisiana’s good-time rules vary by offense date and legal cohort. There is no universal 85-percent rule for all people at Angola. Confirm actual discharge after the displayed date through LAVNS, DPS&C, and P&P when supervision follows.

Angola Parole Release Proof
The Louisiana Committee on Parole makes parole decisions. Its date-specific agendas and rulings may identify the hearing date, person, DPS&C number, institution, panel, and action. Use the document’s exact result, such as grant, deny, defer, continue, remove, withdraw, rescind, reconsider, or rehearing. Those terms are not interchangeable.
A grant can be followed by release-plan review, special conditions, detainer resolution, and processing. Say “parole granted” when the ruling supports only that decision. Reserve “released on parole” for a later verified change from imprisonment to community supervision. R.S. 15:574.12 makes much corrections material confidential. DPS&C identifies some public categories, including age, offense, conviction date, sentence length, and misconduct, but it does not promise the full Master Prison Record. Ask the office to segregate any releasable fields rather than claim access to the entire file. A sentence-computation dispute follows the Records Office or Administrative Remedy Process, not the general public-record email.
If Angola transferred the person, request the receiving agency or facility and event date, then confirm intake with that custodian. If the issue is parole, pair the ruling with later LAVNS or locator status. If the issue is a new parish charge, obtain the WFPSO event and 20th JDC minute separately.
Small Jail Beside Angola
A small parish jail and Louisiana’s oldest and only maximum-security state prison coexist in West Feliciana. This unusual geography makes the name of the custodian more important than the parish name. WFPSO booking entries can use Angola locations or concern conduct at the penitentiary. Such an entry does not prove ordinary local-jail custody or state release.

Angola Address Release Conflict
An Angola address in the sheriff’s booking archive may identify a person who remains a DPS&C prisoner while facing a new parish case. Reconstruct that episode through four independent checks: parish roster, statewide status, court docket, and the WFPSO release or transfer record. Each answers a separate custody question.
A local bond order on the new case can remove one legal barrier while the state sentence remains. Likewise, movement from Angola to court or a local holding site is not community release. Match the DPS&C number, the WFPSO booking, and the court case before describing the outcome. If a receiving authority appears, follow its record until the chain reaches actual community release or continued custody.
Angola Release to Other Custody
Release from Louisiana DPS&C does not rule out another custodian. A federal, immigration, out-of-parish, or other state hold may result in transfer. For a federal sentence, the BOP locator uses a federal identifier or identity fields and defines its own release status. For possible ICE custody, the ICE locator requires its own identity inputs. Neither system should be searched merely because a person disappears from LAVNS.
Ask DPS&C whether the event was community discharge or delivery to another authority. Then use the named recipient’s system. A transfer date is the end of one agency’s physical custody, but not freedom from confinement.
